A reflection on the relation between stories and myths and the human being. The dancer reveals something that forms part of her life and that links up with myth. Ariadna represents freedom to fall into the abyss. It comprises Urdimbre (the entanglements of early love: desire, dream, the other island. Ariadne and Theseus fall in love when he arrives to conquer the monster in the labyrinth) and Abandono (the body alone: the sea, introspection, void. Ariadne is abandoned on an island by Theseus, whom she had saved from the labyrinth).
Approximate duration: 15 min.
Rafaela Carrasco has had an outstanding career as a dancer and choreographer. From the start, she was keen to rethink, investigate and personalise flamenco, taking risks. Her professional goal has been to create her own personal view of dance: warm, elaborate, conceptual, and designed for a group of dancers on a stage. For this purpose she has taken from other dance disciplines, while never leaving behind her flamenco roots, and has followed a very personal, two-way path in the way she sees and expresses dance.
